An Amazing Opening Day at the X. ITFC World Championship in Budapest
Exciting matches, dramatic finishes and a celebration of table football marked the opening day of the X. ITFC World Championship in Budapest.
The first day of the championship is over, and what a start it has been! Players, officials and visitors came together at the beautifully prepared Ludovika Arena for a day full of competition, emotions, smiles and unforgettable moments.
A tremendous amount of work went into preparing the venue, but seeing the international table football community come together made every effort worthwhile.
Visitors also had the opportunity to admire the beautiful table football exhibition, celebrating the history, traditions and diversity of this unique sport.
12 Touch Individual: The quarter-finals are set
Following the opening ceremony, the action began with the 12 Touch Individual Championship. Although there were some surprises along the way, the main contenders advanced through the last 32 and last 16, setting up an exciting quarter-final lineup.
The eight remaining players are:
- Ailson Henrique Brites (USA) vs Jefferson do Amaral Genta (Brazil)
- Vicente Muratore (Italy) vs Marcus Vinicius Constantino (Brazil)
- Igor Quintaes (Brazil) vs Paulo Perrotti (Italy)
- Fernando Ferreira (Brazil) vs Paulo Cesar Michilin (Brazil)
With four quarter-finals featuring players from Brazil, Italy and the United States, the race for the individual world title is entering its decisive stage.
12 Touch Team: Semi-final matchups confirmed
Following the individual competition, the 12 Touch Team Championship got underway. The results followed expectations, and the semi-final pairings for Friday morning are now confirmed.
Brazil vs USA
Italy vs Hungary
The four teams will battle for a place in the final, promising another morning of high-level international competition.
Chapas Club World Championship: Finalists confirmed
The opening day’s programme concluded with the group stage of the Chapas Club World Championship.
The competition produced the two finalists who will meet on Saturday to fight for the world title:
LFC Madrid (Spain) vs Olivais Coimbra (Portugal)
Both clubs have secured their place in the final and will now prepare for the decisive encounter.
What’s next? Friday’s programme
The second day of the championship promises another packed schedule.
The morning will begin with the 12 Touch Team semi-finals, followed by the start of the Chapas Individual and Team competitions. In the evening, attention will turn to Sectorball, as the new Sectorball Club World Champions will be crowned.
With three disciplines, international rivalries and several titles still to be decided, the excitement in Budapest is only just beginning.
More than a championship
The opening day was about much more than results. The smiles, friendships, intense battles and last-minute qualifications demonstrated the spirit of the international table football community.
The championship brings together different traditions and styles of play, united by a shared passion for the game.
