Szathmáry Defends Title at the 2025 Tőserdő Cup

Just one day after the top-tier Hungarian Sectorball league concluded, the focus of the table football community remained on Lakitelek. On May 11, the annual Tőserdő Cup took place, drawing 26 competitors for a one-day tournament organized in a 9-round Swiss system.
After three rounds, only one player had a perfect record: Gábor Farkas Jr., who kicked off with three dominant wins and a staggering 20–1 goal differential. However, his momentum was short-lived. He suffered back-to-back defeats against Takács and Szathmáry, followed by a draw in the eighth round. Despite a strong performance overall, he finished with 19 points, placing second.
The tournament winner, Károly Szathmáry, edged Farkas by a single point, finishing with 20 points. His consistency proved decisive — he lost only once (to Terjék) and added two draws to his record. With this result, Szathmáry successfully defended his title, having also won the Tőserdő Cup in October 2024.
In a surprise turn, Ferenc Fejes from Maroslele secured third place with 18 points, overcoming three narrow losses and impressing the field with his performance.
