The International Table Football Confederation (ITFC) held its annual general meeting online on May 17, 2025, via Google Meet, with representatives from member associations across multiple continents and continents in attendance.

President István Mártonfi presented both the financial and professional reports for 2024. The financial report had already been submitted to the Hungarian court and was made available to all members in advance. The Confederation currently operates with limited resources. The main income for 2024 came from membership fees, the 1% tax donation scheme (through which Hungarian workers can donate 1% of their personal income tax to NGOs).

On the professional side, the past year saw major organizational milestones, including the official court registration of the new ITFC’s management and increased international activity. The ITFC also strengthened ties with international partners, including representation at the FISTF World Cup.

One of the most important agenda points was the 2026 World Championship. With no official bids submitted by the deadline, Budapest, Hungary has emerged as the most likely host city, with Cluj-Napoca, Romania also under consideration. Potential dates include August 20–24, October 8–18, or May 1, taking into account global holiday schedules. Final confirmation will follow soon.

A significant discussion focused on the Catalan rules, recently recognized as an official sport in Catalonia. The Catalan association requested that it be recognized as a fourth official modality within the ITFC. As per ITFC rules, a minimum of five countries must play under the proposed rule set. Currently, four are confirmed, with a fifth expected shortly. A formal vote happened and all agreed that Catalan rule will be part of ITFC: Official vote is planned for the 2026 Congress, to be held during the World Championship.

Further international expansion was also discussed. The USA will host its first Nations Cup, and efforts are underway to coordinate participation between South American and European teams. ITFC leadership emphasized the importance of bringing Brazilian teams to European tournaments, especially with growing interest in Hungary and other countries.

The meeting concluded with a collaborative and optimistic spirit, reflecting the ITFC’s ongoing growth and global ambitions for the sport of sectorball and table football.
